Why You Make Two Separate Payments
|
When the founders of the Popular Culture and American Culture Associations, Ray and Pat Browne, decided to retire from running the conference to pursue other interests, one concern they had was to keep the Journals (JPC and JAC) alive and thriving. Because the new director did not have the same resources available that Bowling Green State University made available to the Brownes, their best alternative was to sell the Journals to Blackwell Publishing. Along with the sale came a contract for the membership dues, which Blackwell prefers to have paid directly to the company rather than through the PCA/ACA. Consequently, the single payments conference presenters used to make (which were both registration fees and membership dues) are now two separate payments. |
